Membership:

Donna Franklin reminded everyone that dues are due now. $45/year. Donna will have an accurate count of members at the Jan meeting.

Safety:

Bob Steinberger reminded everyone, as always, to bring plenty of water when you are out on the trail. It is also a good idea to have a back up fire extinguisher (just in case). Travel in groups of 2 or more and tell someone who is not going with you where you plan to go and estimated time of return. Also, have the telephone numbers of emergency responders with you. Keep a jacket in the vehicle just in case of a breakdown. Chris Crismon added to always carry aspirin with you— you never know when someone in your group may have a heart attack.

Old Business:

Desert Splash was a huge success—again. Several kudos went out to the various committee chairs for their hard work. A brief discussion was held about P4W members being eligible for the merchandise raffle. This was nixed—again! Another discussion ensued about improvements that need to be made to specific functions within Desert Splash. Bob Steinberger then made a motion that a committee be set up to critique the event and establish guidelines for the various committees. This is sorely needed! Motion seconded by Dean Payte and passed. Bob will be calling people to get together (soon) and go over the event and discuss where improvements are needed. Bob also added a challenge to other trail leaders for next year’s Splash. Seems Bob and Sharlene served ice cream in bowls with 2 choices of toppings on the trail!!! The challenge is on for next year.

Last Months Run: No organized run.

New Business:

Election of Officers for 2010:

Nominations for President were Bob Steinberger and Harley Kruidhof. After the ballots were counted, it was announced that the new President is Harley Kruidhof. Vice President is Mike Reeves. Treasurer is Jack Sweeney. Secretary is Sharlene Steinberger. There will be a new board member beginning in 2010—the immediate past President. The installation dinner will be in January—date and time to be announced at January meeting. Deniese Perez is in charge.

No 50/50 raffle because “someone” forgot the tickets!

Rodney Hayes will bring food to the next meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:22 pm upon motion by Sharlene Steinberger, seconded by Jack Sweeney and passed.

Joke of the Month:

Marriage Humor

Wife—What are you doing? Husband—Nothing. Wife—Nothing? You’ve been reading our marriage certificate for an hour. Husband—I’m looking for the expiration date.

Wife—Do you want dinner? Husband—Sure. What are my choices? Wife—Yes or no.

Wife—You always carry my photo in your wallet. Why? Husband—When there is a problem, no matter how great, I look at your picture and the problem disappears. Wife—You see how miraculous and powerful I am for you? Husband—Yes. I see your picture and ask myself, ‘What other problem can be worse than this one?’

Wife—What do you like most in me — my pretty face or my sexy body? Husband—I like your sense of humor.

Husband– Would you have married me if my father hadn’t left me a fortune? Wife—Honey, I would have married you no matter who left you a fortune.
